This thing is great!, April 6, 2012

With no customer reviews, I decided I would give this a shot since it is cheaper than most of the other options out there. As it turns out, this thing is fantastic. My first concern was whether or not it could hold the iPad above my head, screen facing down, without breaking my nose from slipping out. It gives a really nice fit, and I can lay in bed, have it dangle right above my face, get bed sores, and feel safe. I have a “the new iPad.”

Some features that people might like to know about:
    – You can have the charger/data cable plugged in while this is in use
    – You can very easily rotate on the fly, 360 degrees and beyond
    – The head of this thing will mount straight to the top of a mic stand, or you can attach it to the post with the clamp for more flexibility
    – The clamp really does connect well to a round pole, such as a mic stand, or to a flat surface like a desk.
    – It is cheap.

iPad Clip weaknesses, April 24, 2012
    By

This clip seems solid and I bought it to try because it can easily be removed from a mic stand or other mounting area. I use it on a mic stand but the problem I have is that unless it’s not extended and locked in placed central to the body of the holder it just won’t stay in position and slowly sinks down with gravity. The back adjustment clamp and the rod tightening area require a lot of force to get them to hold in place and then it still wants to sink. It seems well made and the price is right but if you are thinking you can fully extend it like the picture you may be disappointed. It could be that mine has a defect in the rubber gasket designed to grip the fitting when tightened but I don’t think so. The iKip works better for me but it’s not flexible in positions like this one.

This clip is a by far better than the iKlip. More universal in movement and adjustment. You can rotate the screen how you like while connected to the stand. A really good thing I like is taking the mic clip off the stand and the replacing it with the IMS-1. Very cool! Every part of the unit rotates or moves for you to find your right adjustment. In using it the only very minor thing I would add is the arm to be telescopic. That way if you want that little extra length you have it. But overall I Love It. Great job!!!

Exceeded my expectations– a smartly designed stand w/iPad3, July 31, 2012

I was pleasantly surprised by this stand. Note however, that it initially appeared to be an aluminum stand, and most of the outer silver parts are actually plastic, but there are a series of nice features, and it seems sturdy enough.

You get three sets of the rubber pads that hold the device, small-medium-large, so you can adjust for the thickness of your ipad in case you are using a case. Note that “small” here means the rubber pads are small, for use with an ipad when it’s cover is thick. And large would be used for an uncovered iPad– remember the *rubber pads* are what’s “large”, not the iPad device itself. But that’s pretty obvious once you see them. They even have three sizes of the rubber disc in the middle for the back of the iPad, so even that is adjustable.

I added an Amzer Jelly case to my iPad 3, which makes it pretty thick, but the small pads weren’t big enough– it slopped around quite a bit, so I switched to the medium pads which were just about right. What that tells me though is, you’d have to have a pretty huge case on your iPad for it not to fit, and even then you could probably use the stand without the rubber pads at all for even more room.

Also, the bottom has what appears to be a ball-bearing lazy-susan mechanism, and it is pretty heavy so I think at least some of that is metal. It tilts nicely, almost 360 degrees, from near-vertical on one side to near-vertical on the other, and it rotates so you can hold the pad in portrait or landscape position.

I’m not sure what more you could ask, and the price is cheap for what it is. The only thing that could make it better is if it was actually all made of aluminum, but that would probably make it cost quite a bit more.

The weakest link is probably the latch on the side where you slide the iPad into place, but fortunately it can be on the top in portrait mode, so even if it broke it wouldn’t render the stand useless.

And it’s relatively sturdy enough to be able to work the pad, though I don’t know that I’d want to spend all day typing on it. The stand bottom has a thumbscrew holding it onto the baseplate, so you could mount it directly onto something else, like a tabletop or cash register if you wanted it to be even more stable. It’s probably not quite sufficient to keep people from stealing your iPad when there’s noone around though, so I can’t say I’d recommend it for a POS terminal like another reviewer did…

All in all, not a bad stand, especially for the blowout price– I suspect they may be on their way to be discontinued? Since at $14.99 it seems they could hardly afford to make them…

Great use for retail POS system, May 8, 2011

I’m using this stand for a retail POS system with iPad. It allows to fix it on the counter from below by changing the holding screw. This makes it sturdy and the cross shape of the stand prevents the iPad from falling over from an accidental move. A lock system at the top could have made it perfect.

I liked the neat design the color and everything, however, my ipad2 does not fit perfectly. The holder is big i think it might work with the old iPad.
