the shade case is a great little cover! well worth the price; and i’ll probably buy more to coincide with my moods

this gets 4 starts out of 5, though, because it’s designed more for the flat-faced ipods than the new ipod classic’s rounded face. it bubbles *just slightly*. you wouldnt notice it if you weren’t looking for it

EDIT (1 month later): i would actually rate this sleeve a 3 out of 5. it severely reduces the sensitivity of the scroll wheel and causes it to not respond intermittently while trying to scroll through the library or just turning up the volume.

I put this on my iPod and when I tried to take it off, because I couldn’t use the wheel in the middle while it was on, the entire thing ripped. Do not get this cover!

This is one great case. I read numerous reviews that said the case was hard to put on and lacked sensitivity on the wheel. The case took me 45 seconds to put on (I timed it) all the plug-in ports lined up with the cut-outs on the case and the sensitivity on the wheel seemed the same as without the case. My Classic 120 GB IPOD was used when I purchased it so that may have improved the sensitivity. I will definately buy another if this one wears out.

I paid a lot of money for a new classic 160gig iPod, you bet I’ll spend twenty to protect it! In a year when the new model comes out I’ll get top dollar for mine because it wont have a single mark on it!
This is a complete wrap around cover in two pieces. It took quite a while and was finicky to apply, but was very much worth the effort. My iPod classic in black looks as if I have varnished it, very shiny clear coating. The cover is invisible once applied except the high gloss finish you get.
It looks very much like a freshly waxed car when applied. It won’t protect from drops or serious mishandling, but it will not allow scratches. I did not like the bulky cases, so this is perfect for me.

I never review anything I buy. However, I felt this time it might be worth it to dispel some of the rumors/commentary that have shown up with this product.

I have a 160GB Silver 7th Generation (the newest and latest) iPod Classic. This particular item fits it perfectly. I did not have to cut off any part on top or on the bottom of the screen protector (either front or back) as others have mentioned. I bought this item specifically to have something to protect the back of my iPod. The front I have rarely, if ever, seen scratched, and I owned the previous generation of the iPod Classic for well over 2 years. The back, however, scratches from just putting it in your pocket. So I bought this with that in mind, and with that in mind, it was a success. Now to the drawbacks…

    – It is INCREDIBLY difficulty to apply. Blame it on the curves of the iPod or blame it on just poor adhesion, but the top and bottom parts of the body protector literally took me about 15 minutes just pressing down on in order for it to adhere to the metal, and even then, it still did not glue completely for another hour or so.
    – The front part I ended up throwing away altogether, because, even though it might have been the easiest part to apply, it became very dirty underneath the sticky part due to the squeege that’s included in the pack. Other protectors, like Zagg’s Invisible Shield bring a plastic squeege (that I now wish I had not thrown away). This one comes with a rubbery one that leaves residue behind very easily, making it difficult when taking out the air and water bubbles from underneath.

I gave this 4 stars, even with the obvious deficiencies, because for what I wanted, which was protection for the back metal part of the iPod Classic, it worked perfectly, even if it was an arduous task. If you truly want a full-body protector, I recommend a different squeege before you even start applying anything.

Nice thick coating, December 28, 2010
    A Kid’s Review

This is a good quality thick coat on your iPod. It’s a bit of a pain to install (on the corners especially, it took a lot of sitting there holding down the edges until it cured a bit). But all in all it was worth it. It feels like it will do a great job of protecting from scratches. I love that the manufacturer will replace it if you mess it up during installation. That eased my mind a lot.
