I am a bit of a perfectionist. Case in point, this is my third iPad mini case. My first case was the ultra-cheap Khomo case, which I purchased off Amazon. The case lasted roughly two weeks (I believe?) before I returned it. In that span of time, it the cover began to fray, separate, and fall apart, which was fine by me because the case just didn’t work. The magnets weren’t strong enough, the angles of the case were too steep to hold the iPad upright, and I just generally hated the thing. My second case was the iSkin Vibes Folio. I made the common mistake of assuming a pricier product was higher quality when this case also fell apart shortly there after.

All that aside, so far I love this case. My biggest problem with the Apple branded smart covers are that there is no hardshell included and that the colors, well, suck. The lack of variety was a serious deterrent, so when I saw these cases for just $12, I was intrigued but afraid of falling into the trap of the Khomo case, that the colors and designs would lure me in, but the lack of quality would ruin it. I was a bit apprehensive that this case would be awful, but the quality appears to be there. I love the colors, the magnets are very strong and hold the iPad at agreeable angles. My only complaint thus far is that the microfiber lining of the cover is probably excellent for keeping the screen clean, but it also picks up a bit of grime from the surface on which it is set when used as a stand. I’m sure I’ll find a way around that at some point, but at this moment it’s my only complaint. I’ll update if things start falling apart, but so far, it has my stamp of approval

I just got my yellow cover in the mail today. Here’s my take on it so far:

    Pros:
    – It seems to be built of pretty sturdy material that will last. That remains to be seen of course.
    – It lays flat on the screen when closed.
    – The auto sleep/wake function works.
    – The stand function seems to work well in both positions, I have used it for about an hour on a table top in both positions.

    Cons:
    – It wasn’t bright yellow like in the picture. More of a soft baby yellow.
    – The magnet isn’t strong enough to hold it closed very well.
    – It’s clumsy to hold when open because the cover just flaps back on itself and hangs there.

GreAt for how I use my Ipad, July 23, 2014

I love these cases. They are so much better than the Apple smart cover and case. The hard plastic back snaps securely to the iPad and the wake/sleep cover is connected and does not come off. I do do not think it works well as a stand but I use my iPad mainly for reading and games so this is not a problem for me. They are very slim and do not add much extra weight to the device. They are nicely priced so I was able to buy a couple of colors to switch off with. Definitely would recommend.

A very nice case that fits tightly is rugged, lightweight and high quality. I like the screen protector more than Otterbox’s!, December 16, 2013

Customer Video Review Length:: 7:06 Mins

This case surprised me. I am an Otterbox fan and I thought that no one could make a better case than them. But I actually like this case better as an outside case design. Yea I miss the snap on cover and the magnets to put the iPad to sleep or to wake it up but this case is tough, lightweight and thinner than the Otterbox. I don’t think that the snap on cover and sleep/wake function is worth the additional $50 that the big guy sells his for. I actually like the back of this Beetle Defense case more and the screen protector is much better than the ones supplied by Otterbox. This is coming from a guy that has purchased 8 Otterbox defender cases for Apple products. ( 4 iPads and 4 iPhones)

I started off comparing this case to the Otterbox case in my video and the further I got into using this new case the more I liked it. This case sells for less than ½ of the price of the big guys and the actual case that fits onto the iPad is nicer, lighter and tighter in its fit. It is a tough case to put onto the iPad Air but I try to show how to do it in my video. Just take your time and follow the video. There is even a video posted on the web to show how to install the case.

I won’t go over the installation in my written review because the video does it much better than I can put into words. I realized that 90 % of the time when I am using my iPad I do not use the Otterbox snap on cover or the tilt stand. I like the thinner and lighter feel of the Beetle defense case. The case feels rugged and very solid. All of the edges of your iPad are covered and the seals of the case are very tight. The controls and ports are all covered and I like the solid feel of the case. All of the controls are protected but also readily available for your easy use.

The screen cover is crystal clear and the touch screen works very well with the screen cover in place. I actually like the screen cover better than the ones on the Otterbox cases. The last screen cover from Otterbox was so bad that I actually cut it out of the case as it made the retina display look grainy.

With the case installed on the iPad Air the overall weight is 1 pound and 10 ounces so in my real world example the case only added 9 and ¾ ounces but it added a lot of protection. I like this case a lot and I rated it as a 5 star item.

I was supplied a sample of the product for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

An Honest Review – Please Read, February 13, 2014

I recently got this beetle case for my iPad air.

I had a concern for buying this case because a few reviews talked about how hard the installation was and how some of their iPads were scratched installing the case.

I had ordered an otter box but unfortunately it was taking forever to ship (3+weeks not through amazon) so I just ordered this one instead regardless of concerns.

Once I got the case and watched the installation video, I must say the people who had a problem installing the case must not have been the brightest bunch… It was incredible easy, and probably took 15-20 seconds.

The fit of the case is remarkable, extremely solid design. The screen cover sits very tight as well (at first I did not like the feel of the plastic screen, it felt rough…but after you use it for 10-15 minutes it gets glossy smooth and feels identical to the screen of the iPad)

Everywhere I bring it people ask what case I have and where I got it. It’s cool looking and sturdy, providing a rugged protection but not taking away from the reason of having an iPad air (lightweight and thin)

I have 0 regrets in bailing on the otter box case and getting this one…which was half price of the otter box case.

Get this case you won’t regret it.

UPDATE: recently I was walking up a flight of stairs and tripped. My iPad was in my hands and I accidentally dropped it over the railing. It fell all the way to the first floor (about 10 feet) and hit the hard ground right on its side…. I was almost sure my iPad air would be broken. But not one problem, which I am certain without this case I would have been screwed.

The SUPCASE Beetle Defense Series case for iPad Air is an excellent choice if you are looking for max protection.

    Pros:
-Extremely protective (Shock/drop proof and dustproof)
-All ports are easily access and have a flap that protects them
-Camera cutouts and mic cutouts are good
-Thick piece that goes around the whole iPad Air is high quality and protective
-Provides protection like an Otterbox but at less than half the price
-Link to installation video is on the box (company updated it with more detail)
-Built in screen protector to protect the screen from getting scratched
-Works with screen protectors (2 layer of screen protectors)
-Looks good on an iPad Air (black or white) in the black version of the case
-Neat looking design on the back that looks great
    -Home button is very responsive
    -Power button is very responsive
-Feels like my iPad Air is very protected
-Easy to access control center (Otterbox defender case users have issues getting control center to come up)
    -Excellent price

    Cons:
-Most difficult case for me to install/uninstall of the many cases I have but it just takes some patience
-Silent switch is deep and requires you to use your nail to switch/move it
-Screen protector should be an option
-Dot grid on the built in screen protector (noticed in a reflection of light
This is one of the most protective iPad Air cases I have and I highly recommend this one.

    Watch my video review.
I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest.
