This is the second such case I bought and this one is far superior in design. The first one (typical of the others… possibly all from same supplier?) can be identified by the rubber casing protruding slightly onto the sides of the touchscreen. This may help to hold it in place, but it also means that you must slightly push the edge of the cover out of the way to activate the right or left press on the touchpad (e.g. for 10sec or track forward/back). This cover also slightly covers the trackpad (necessary to hold it in place) but importantly the edge of the cover is TAPERED rather than just a thick edge. This means that right/left presses on the trackpad work perfectly.

I deducted a star because I do wish this came in black or some there color. Translucent color may be a bit easier to see, but also makes the remote look kludged. The black one I tried from the other supplier may not have worked well, but it LOOKED far better.

    Very nice, tricky-ish installation, June 22, 2016

It’s an awesome cover. Makes the remote feel much nicer in hand, and you don’t have to treat it like an egg anymore.

One note: can be tricky to get on correctly. If you just try to put it in normally, the silicone “lip” at the top of the remote can stay folded under. You’ll notice this right away, because it holds the touch portion of the remote in a “clicked” state (you won’t be able to click it, it’s already held clicked!). This sucks! If you look at it, and the silicone border looks like it isn’t continuous and smooth (a rectangle with round corners around the touch portion), then it’s folded under. To see what it should look like when installed correctly, try putting the top of the remote in first (you won’t be able to actually install it this way, but you can see what the top should look like).

To fix this, install the remote bottom first as normal. then carefully take a toothpick, slide it under the top part of the cover on the remote (just before where the silicone lip is folded under), and slide it along carefully to pry/pull out the lip. The touch portion will “I click”, it will look right, and work great.

Hope this makes sense, it will probably make more sense when you actually do it! Basically, if it doesn’t look EXACTLY like the picture when installed, then the top lip is folded under and it will work like crap – I almost returned it.

When fixed. It is awesome! It really feels much better on hand, and makes it easier to tell right away if you are holding the remote right side up/forward. I haven’t tried the Elago cover (looks nice) or cheap knockoffs (maybe nice, maybe not! It’s just silicone after all…), but what sold me on this one was the extra padding and more “rounded” design. Makes me more confident it will survive a drop, and by having no right angles or sharper edges it is very comfortable to hold.

    Buy it!
