Anker® 7500mAh Extended Battery and Cover Combo for Samsung Galaxy S5 with TPU Back Cover and 18-Month Warranty Included

  • Category-high capacity of 7500mAh almost triples the original battery life of your Galaxy S5 (NFC, IR and waterproof use not supported).
  • Built-in design delivers total energy efficiency, as opposed to 20-35% waste typical of external power sources like battery cases and chargers.
  • Durable TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) cover protects against bumps and features combined matte and gloss finish for secure gripping.
  • Adds only 0.53in (13.3mm) of thickness and 5.5oz (156.1g) of weight to keep added bulk at a minimum.
  • Package contents: Anker® High-Capacity Li-ion Battery, TPU back cover, welcome guide, 18-month hassle-free warranty.

Ultimate power and protection for your Galaxy S5.

On a power trip.
Packed with a category-high 7500mAh of power, use your phone almost three times longer than before. That’s up to 56 hours of 3G talktime, 27 hours of internet or 32 hours of HD movie viewing, ideal for prolonged activities in places lacking conventional power.

Keep your S5 newer, longer.
The durable TPU back cover protects your phone’s corners, sides and back, effectively absorbing impacts, all while adding only half an inch of thickness (including battery) to your device. Improve both your battery life and your phone’s life at the same time.

Total efficiency.
External power sources typically waste up to 35% of energy through voltage conversion. But an internal battery is totally power-efficient, giving your phone 100% of the stored energy to use. And with no wires, buttons or LEDs, use your S5 without any added complexity either.

Upgrade via replacement.

At first I was skeptical because I had purchased similar products and found complaints, a lack of phone protection, non-integrated battery charging, and most importantly, not getting the life I expected.

Well, first of all, this case is sturdy. It adds quite a bit of bulk and weight, but you should know that going in, you are buying a massive battery and a massive case to hold it. I mean, it isn’t much worse than an Otterbox Defender series (maybe a bit thicker), but it is still beefy in comparison to the S5 in a Speck case that I was used to.

Second, it feels rigid. I feel like I could drop the phone and have it be pretty safe, something I did not experience with the graspy, thin extended battery cases. Again, adding some size and weight, but it is durable.

Finally, the battery life is utterly amazing. To get through a full day (6 AM to 10 PM) with my standard battery, I had to always have off Location Services, Bluetooth, Sync, WiFi when not connected, lower brightness, close unused apps all the time, use JuiceDefender to go Airplane mode when the phone was off, follow the “21 steps to saving S5 battery life”, etc. etc. etc.

Today was my first full day with the Anker 7500mAh case on. I woke up at 6:00 AM and unplugged it. I run the S Health app and pedometer all day long. I used it pretty average at work until I left around 2 PM, texting, a couple calls, constant Facebook and ESPN checks, a little bit of music. Then, I turned on the Bluetooth after work before picking up my girlfriend and making out 4 hours drive home for the 4th of July. I listened to music for about 5 hours in the car over Bluetooth, having Location Services and the GPS app on for this entire time. I have the brightness hiked up, the Sync on, Power Saver mode off. The icing on the cake is my girlfriend played Pharaoh’s Way slots for a few hours while all this was running on the way home.

Well, it is now 11:00 PM and my phone still has 72% battery life having been off the charger for the past 17 hours and used as mentioned above. This thing may be a behemoth, but it offers the protection and battery life to make it 100% worth it. I found this case by chance as it did not pop up in Amazon searches, but it is spectacular. If you don’t believe it because of the lack of reviews, look at other Anker products, I also have the pleasure of owning a couple of their USB external battery packs.

Thank you Anker, I hope this helps spread the word,
    Mike

Amazing amount of phone power in one Place!, July 1, 2014

So, first the disclaimer: I got this product for free as a review sample. I think you’ll find the review fair, anyway.

There are, in a sense, two products here – one is the battery and the other is the case. You need the case, since this is a huge battery — almost three times the size of the original one — so the original battery cover simply won’t install. Don’t worry about the installation, though, it was very easy, even though I’m personally not so graceful: Shut down the phone, the pop off the back cover (there’s a little slot near the volume slider to fit your fingernail. Drop in the new battery, then fit the new TPU case on top. Make sure that the lip of the case seals all the way around.
Was pretty easy, and it worked fine even though I have a “tempered glass” screen protector installed.

That all said, the “pros and cons” are pretty straightforward!

    Pros:
    – Absolutely amazing power reserve. With my typical usage, I’d only recharge this batter about twice a week (three times, max)
    – Charges quickly and without a lot of heat generation
    – Case is terrific! The TPU has a good feel, and both power and volume buttons are responsive and easy to operate. None of the opening (USB/charge, camera, IR) are blocked.
    – Overall balance, grip, and feel is very good.

    Cons:
    – It’s heavy! This is pretty much unavoidable, but still true. The phone literally doubles in weight with this in place — with the original phone & battery, it comes in at 5.4-5.5 ounces and with this battery/cover, the total is 11.0 ounces. On the other hand, that’s actually *good* compared to the competition.
    – No NFC (“near field computing”) capability on the battery. Most people don’t use it and don’t care (and, in fact, not having it is a plus in that case, since it reduces power drain and may increase security).

Overall, if you have a Galaxy S5 need a battery that lasts a while — for example, you’re in an all day meeting or long plane ride or whatever — then you should seriously consider this product.

Anker gave me a free sample in exchange for an honest review. Recently, I reviewed ZeroLemon’s version, which can be found here:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A4RZ3GSOHXS97/ref=cm_cr_pr_auth_rev?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview
If you don’t wanna read through that long-winded review, to summarize, I wanted to give ZeroLemon 4.5 stars, which ended up being 5, since Amazon doesn’t allow half-stars, and mathematically, rounding up was correct.
I think my review would be most helpful comparing the two. Anker’s version, from me, would get something like 4.8-4.9 stars, which yes, still rounds up to a 5. Notice, however, that I would give it 0.3-0.4 stars higher than the ZeroLemon version, for the following reasons:
The case has rounded edges (unlike the Zero Lemon, which is completely square/boxy, which gives it a bulkier feel), which gives it a slightly less bulky feel to it. It is also nice and snug around the phone, unlike ZeroLemon’s, which even after they provided a second TPU case, is still a tad-bit loose around the left and right sides of the phone.
The battery seems like it was custom-made, with a quality feel. Zero Lemon’s feels/looks like 3 batteries were literally taped together–not a big deal, but worth noting.
The most important distinguishing factor? The battery performance, of course. I have no way of proving or quantifying this feeling, as I have no equipment to measure the actual maH’s of the batteries to compare them, but I have taken both the ZeroLemon and Anker extended batteries with me to work, where I typically abuse the batteries with constant surfing, streaming, and moderate gaming as well. I usually brought the ZeroLemon’s battery to a 5-10% charge by the end of a 12-16 hour day, if not killing it completely, but so far, I have not been able to kill the Anker battery with a typical day’s use–it usually has at least 10-20% by the end of my day. So the difference in performance, to me, is minimal, but worth noting.
Is there any flaws I can think of with this phone? Only one, and it is nitpicking a bit. The Zerolemon, which having its obnoxious “ZL” logo pasted all over it’s case, I now realize, did have a functional use–it allowed for a better grip on the phone. For most people, this is probably not a big deal, but I would take note, if you have a history of butterfingers with your phones–the ZeroLemon in that case, might be the choice for you–that is the only way/shape/form in which I think ZeroLemon “beats” the Anker battery–otherwise, it’s the Anker extended battery, all the way!
